This renovation of a 1911 home was a thoughtful collaboration focused on improving function while preserving the home’s historic charm. Working closely with the family, every design decision was made with their needs in mind, while respecting the character and craftsmanship of the original home.
A dark, outdated bathroom located off the kitchen was completely reimagined into a beautiful powder room. By introducing a proper vanity with storage, a larger sink, classic beadboard detailing, and layered wallpaper, the space now feels intentional, bright, and true to the home’s era.
The kitchen had undergone a few updates over the years, so my goal was to create a cohesive and timeless design. I selected shaker-style cabinetry, finished in a rich green on the lower cabinets and a soft creamy white on the uppers, paired with white appliances. A diamond-pattern green checkered tile floor grounds the space and adds character, honouring the home’s history while remaining highly functional.
With only one small full bathroom on the upper level, functionality was essential. We updated the space with a new vanity offering increased storage, refreshed floor and shower tile, a larger tub, and new lighting, creating a bathroom that better supports everyday family life.
